The strikeout rate translates. Across AAA & AA this season, Xavier Rivas has punched out 136 batters over 105.6 innings, and the MLB-equivalent K/9 of 9.3 clears what big-league starters typically post. The problem is right next to it: 65 walks in that same sample push the translated BB/9 to 5.2, and the K-BB% actually lands below MLB average once it comes through the translation. Everything hinges on whether he can halve the walk rate, because the strikeouts alone won't carry a 5.5 BB/9 into a rotation. If the command firms up even modestly, he's a bullpen piece who misses bats; if it doesn't, he's depth.
