Deterministic, stat-grounded reads from the current ValuCast prospect board. These reports explain the evidence; they do not change rank or value.
What the reports say
1 matching report. Stats come from ValuCast-owned MiLB context; peak notes come from the peak projection, not public scouting grades.
The .472 OBP at AAA is the loudest number in this profile, and the 71 walks in 377 plate appearances explain it. Sterlin Thompson is hitting .325 with a 19% walk rate and just 16% strikeouts, and the MLB translation trims that walk rate to 14.2%, still well clear of the 8.5% league average, while the ISO lands right at the MLB mean of .15, meaning the contact and discipline carry over but the power is roughly pedestrian once you adjust the level. The whole ceiling hinges on whether that discipline holds against big-league stuff, because the .375 BABIP at AAA is doing real work on the AVG and OBP, and if it regresses sharply in the majors the bat profile narrows fast. At best he's a patient, on-base-first bench bat who steals a lineup spot against righties; at worst, a depth piece whose hit rate quietly deflates and takes the case for him with it.
