Deterministic, stat-grounded reads from the current ValuCast prospect board. These reports explain the evidence; they do not change rank or value.
What the reports say
1 matching report. Stats come from ValuCast-owned MiLB context; peak notes come from the peak projection, not public scouting grades.
The contact and plate discipline are genuinely loud for a 21-year-old catcher at this level: a 13% strikeout rate across A+ & A that translates to roughly 18.9% in an MLB context, and 70 walks against just 57 strikeouts in 427 plate appearances. The .422 OBP is the profile's best argument, and the walk rate translating to 11.6% MLB-equivalent gives it teeth — most big-league regulars don't sniff that figure. The power is the ceiling question: a .121 ISO equivalent at the major-league level is thin, and if that gap doesn't close as he climbs, what's left is a bat-control specialist who catches, which is a bench piece, not a regular. Either an everyday backstop who figures out how to generate more damage, or a very patient backup who makes quiet contact behind the plate.
