The walk rate is the best thing he's got. At AAA in 2026, Etzel has drawn 67 walks across 503 plate appearances, and that 13% clip translates to an 11.2% MLB-equivalent against a context where most big-league hitters sit at 8.5%. The power is a different story: .188 ISO at AAA sounds useful, but the MLB translation flattens to .150, dead even with the average hitter, so the 19 home runs aren't buying him anything at the next level that most guys don't already have. Add 25 stolen bases and you've got a profile that's genuinely interesting in the aggregate, but it hinges entirely on the plate discipline holding in MLB environments, because if the strikeout rate ticks up from its translated 25.3% and the walks compress, there's no carrying tool to fall back on.
