The walk rate is the whole argument. At AAA in 2026, Mason Barnett has issued 26 walks in 45.7 innings, a 5.1 BB/9 that translates to 4.3 at the MLB level — a full point above where most MLB starters land. The strikeouts don't compensate: 42 punchouts across those same 45.7 innings produces a K-BB% of 8%, and the MLB-equivalent lands at 10.1% against a 13.5% MLB baseline. A 4.3 ERA at AAA looks passable on the surface, but the 1.4 WHIP and a walk rate that stays elevated through translation tells you the profile is living on borrowed time against better hitters. Unless the command comes in, the ceiling and the floor both end at depth arm.
