What the reports say
1 matching report. Stats come from ValuCast-owned MiLB context; peak notes come from the peak projection, not public scouting grades.
The .290/.378/.458 line at AA is legitimate production for a 19-year-old, but the translation is where you feel the ceiling close in. His AA ISO of .168 becomes .135 at the MLB equivalent, and with the MLB average sitting at .150, the power that looks live in Double-A thins to fringe when the level adjusts. What holds up better is the discipline: 49 walks against 91 strikeouts across 428 PA translates to a 9.5% walk rate, and where the MLB average is 8.5%, that's a skill that travels. De Vries is either a solid-contact shortstop who develops enough gap power to hold a lineup spot, or a bench bat who hits for average and walks enough to stay on a roster when the ISO doesn't follow.
