Kash Mayfield has struck out 62 batters across 53.3 innings at A+ with a 1.2 WHIP, and the shape of it, 90th-percentile WHIP, 83rd-percentile K-BB%, 71st-percentile walk rate, says the control is doing the heavy lifting where the pure stuff isn't. The translation is honest about the ceiling: at MLB-equivalent rates, his K/9 sits just below league average and his walk rate runs a tick above it, which puts the floor squarely in depth arm territory if the command advantage compresses under better hitters. If it holds, the lane is multi-inning reliever or setup piece, two to three years out.
