Across AA & A+, Kepley has drawn 120 walks against just 89 strikeouts in 595 plate appearances, a 20% walk rate that translates to 14.7% at the MLB level, well above the league norm of 8.5%. The .422 OBP stands on a foundation the contact backs up, a 15% strikeout rate that would play below league average at the big-league level, but the ISO translates to .12, a tick below MLB average, and 70 stolen bases tell you he's betting his value on getting on base rather than doing damage.
