Deterministic, stat-grounded reads from the current ValuCast prospect board. These reports explain the evidence; they do not change rank or value.
What the reports say
1 matching report. Stats come from ValuCast-owned MiLB context; peak notes come from the peak projection, not public scouting grades.
The contact skill is legitimate and the power isn't. Kasevich's 11% strikeout rate at AAA across 572 plate appearances translates to 14.8% in MLB-equivalent terms, well below what most big-league lineups carry, and his walk rate converts to 9.1%, a tick above the MLB equivalent of 8.5%. The problem is the .081 ISO at AAA, which lands at .087 translated, against an MLB norm of .150, and four home runs in 572 plate appearances tells you everything about the gap between what this bat can do and what it needs to do. If the contact and walk skills hold at the next level, he's a useful bench piece who can get on base and play shortstop; if the power never comes, there's nothing left to argue about.
