The walk rate is what kills the translation. Across 107 innings at AAA, Tong has posted a 5.0 BB/9 that softens to a 4.6 BB/9 MLB equivalent — meaningful, because MLB pitchers average 3.2, and his translated K-BB% of 12.1% lands just under the 13.5% MLB average despite strikeout stuff that plays close to serviceable. The 126 strikeouts in 107 AAA innings give the swing-and-miss some real shape, but if the command doesn't tighten at the next level he's a depth arm with a good day job. Ceiling and floor are basically the same thing here: a depth option who gets called when someone gets hurt, and goes back when they don't.
