Deterministic, stat-grounded reads from the current ValuCast prospect board. These reports explain the evidence; they do not change rank or value.
What the reports say
1 matching report. Stats come from ValuCast-owned MiLB context; peak notes come from the peak projection, not public scouting grades.
The batting average looks good; the walk rate kills the dream. Jay Harry is hitting .298 across AAA & AA & A this season with a .495 slugging and 14 home runs in 429 plate appearances, but his translated BB% comes out to 5.6 while the MLB average sits at 8.5, and that gap is the whole argument against him. The contact is real enough, 84 strikeouts in 429 PA translating to almost exactly league-average strikeout rate, but a hitter who makes contact and doesn't walk tends to live or die by a BABIP that won't always be .347. If the hit tool is genuine and the ball-in-play luck normalizes only a little, he's a fringe bench piece; if it doesn't, he's organizational depth at shortstop and nothing more.
