Ferris has posted a 4.7 BB/9 at AAA this season, and when you translate that to an MLB context it sits at 4.4 — more than a full walk per nine above what the league average starter allows. The strikeouts don't rescue him, with a K-BB% that translates to 10.7% where the MLB average is 13.5%. The 5.5 ERA and 1.6 WHIP over 101.3 innings at AAA aren't noise; they're what happens when a lefty gives away free passes at that rate without the swing-and-miss volume to compensate. If the command tightens, there's a multi-inning reliever in there; if it doesn't, this is a depth arm.
