The walk rate is the whole argument here. Baumeister has struck out 111 batters across 103.3 innings at AA, but 55 walks in the same stretch pushes his translated BB/9 to 4.7, and the MLB average sits at 3.2 — a gap wide enough that the strikeout rate can't cover it. His MLB-equivalent K/9 comes in at 8.1, a tick below the league mean of 8.6, so there's no overwhelming strikeout upside to bail him out. The 1.3 WHIP and 5.1 ERA at AA tell you the walks are costing him now, and if the command doesn't tighten, the strikeouts aren't enough to carry a 4.7-walk pitcher into a big-league rotation, and you're looking at a depth arm at best.
