The walk rate is the whole argument. Sixty-eight walks across 115 innings at AAA translates to a 4.9 BB/9 at the MLB level, and that number sits nearly a run and a half above what big-league hitters typically see — enough to cancel out whatever the strikeout side can offer. The 123 strikeouts look fine in isolation, but a K-BB% that translates to 10.1% in MLB context tells you the command isn't a small-sample blip waiting to correct, especially with the K-BB% sitting at the 40th percentile among AAA arms. If the walks tighten, there's a back-end arm here; if they don't, the ceiling and the floor land in the same place: organizational depth.
