The strikeout rate is loud and the walk rate is louder. Across AAA, AA, and A this season, Hernandez has 96 strikeouts in 74.7 innings, an 11.6 K/9 that translates to 9.3 at the MLB level, but the 6.4 BB/9 translates to 5.5, nearly double what a typical big-league arm gives away. That gap is the whole profile: the stuff misses bats, but a 53rd-percentile K-BB% says the strikeouts aren't outrunning the control problem by nearly enough. If the walk rate doesn't tighten, you're looking at a reliever or depth piece; if it does, there's a back-end starter in there somewhere, but the evidence strength is rated low and the sample doesn't yet say which way this tips.
