Twenty-nine stolen bases in 343 AAA plate appearances is the loud number, and it's almost the whole argument. Cauley isn't hitting for power, his ISO translates to .129 at the MLB level while the average big-league hitter sits at .150, so he's running because that's where the value lives. The plate discipline is real enough, 45 walks against 73 strikeouts at AAA, and a translated walk rate of 10.7% would play above average in the bigs, but if the speed doesn't carry over or the stolen-base rate compresses against better arms, what's left is a shortstop with below-average pop and a contact profile that grades just fine without doing anything memorable. Bench bat with upside only if the legs translate.
