The contact is the calling card. Across AAA & AA in 2026, Betancourt has struck out in just 14% of his 406 plate appearances, and the MLB translation puts that at 17.9%, well below what most big-league hitters produce. The .218 ISO across that same sample says the power is already at a usable level for a catcher, translating to .162 at the MLB level, above the 22.0% strikeout environment he'd be operating in. The .335 OBP is where the ceiling starts to close: the walk rate hasn't kept pace with the contact quality, and if that gap doesn't narrow, what you have is a bat that makes a lot of quiet contact without doing enough damage to profile as more than a bench piece, either a plus defensive backup who gives you league-average offense at a premium position, or a fringe roster name if the glove doesn't carry its weight.
