The power is louder than the profile deserves. At AA, Brannon is hitting .280/.355/.560 across 398 plate appearances with 22 home runs, and the ISO translates to .192 at the MLB level, well above what the average big-league bat produces. The problem is that 29% strikeout rate at AA carries to 29.5% in MLB equivalent terms, and at first base there's nowhere to hide that. Everything hinges on whether he can bring the whiff rate down even modestly; if he can't, the power plays in limited doses off the bench rather than every day, and at a position that demands bat-first everyday value, limited doses is a polite way of saying organizational depth.
