What the reports say
1 matching report. Stats come from ValuCast-owned MiLB context; peak notes come from the peak projection, not public scouting grades.
The ISO is the whole argument and the whole problem. At .567 slugging and a .298 ISO at AA, Brooks Brannon has legitimate over-the-fence power — 17 home runs in 275 plate appearances is a real thump for a 22-year-old first baseman, and the .921 OPS sits at the 93rd percentile among hitters in the pool. But the translation to an MLB context is where the profile gets complicated: that strikeout rate, already 31% at AA, translates to 30.1% at the MLB level against a backdrop where most big-league hitters strike out well below that, and there is almost no margin for a first baseman who can't put the barrel on the ball against quality arms. If the swing-and-miss tightens up, the power (.194 ISO equivalent) plays at least as a platoon piece; if it doesn't, you're left with a bench corner bat who needs to earn his roster spot every spring. ValuCast has him cooling, down 22 spots in three days.
